Thanksgiving 2018
Local dignitaries, media and volunteers joined Our Place staff to make everyone feel like family this Thanksgiving. Around 600 of Victoria’s most vulnerable citizens joined Our Place’s family table for a special Thanksgiving meal on Wednesday, Oct. 3 through the generous support of donors, community groups and volunteers. “Thanksgiving is a special time to be with loved ones. For many people who are struggling, we’re the closest family they have,” says Don Evans, executive director of Our Place. “We want everyone to feel a sense of belonging and enjoy a great meal.” Our Place kitchen staff prepared 1,000 lbs of turkey, 500 lbs of potatoes, 250 lbs of stuffing, 200 lbs of vegetables, 25 gallons of gravy, 55 lbs of cranberry sauce, 125 pumpkin pies and 1,500 cups of coffee.
