Easter Thanks to our Donors
Easter Celebration at Our Place – Easter is traditionally a time of renewed hope, and that couldn’t be more evident than at Our Place. While the city is slowly opening up again, Our Place remains committed to offering a safe space for those experiencing homelessness, financial and/or medical struggles to enjoy a home-cooked meal. Around 600 of Victoria’s most vulnerable citizens are expected to join Our Place’s family table for a special Easter meal on Sunday, April 17 through the generous support of donors, community groups and volunteers. Due to pandemic restrictions, city leaders and volunteers won’t be joining staff this year to dish out a full meal of turkey cutlets, cranberry sauce, steamed vegetables and herbed rice. “People from all walks of life are still struggling to make ends meet this year,” says Julian Daly, executive director of Our Place. “Serving an Easter meal to those who might otherwise go without is just one small way of showing that we are here to listen, share and support.” Spiritual Care is also hosting a Multi-Faith Spring Celebration on Sunday at 919 Pandora in the Spiritual Care space on the 2nd floor. It will have light refreshments at 12:30 pm followed by a multi-faith service at 1:00 pm. Easter Sunday, Pesach (Passover), and the Hindu festival of Hanuman Jayanti will all be represented.
