#24.64 Landscaping Coordinator

Position Overview

Our Place Society (OPS) is seeking a dedicated Landscape Coordinator to spearhead an innovative initiative aimed at providing employment opportunities for vulnerable members of our community. At the core of OPS’s mission is the belief in the transformative power of employment to instill hope and foster belonging. In alignment with this vision, the Landscape Coordinator will play a pivotal role in launching and coordinating a for-profit social enterprise focused on commercial landscaping.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with OPS leadership to create plans and assess equipment requirements for the project.
  • Work closely with program managers within Our Place to identify, recruit and train employees for the landscaping team.
  • Support and oversee the initial launch of the landscaping team, ensuring smooth operations and high-quality service delivery.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to employees, fostering their professional development and growth.
  • Continuously identify opportunities for expansion and improvement within the landscaping business model.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with all stakeholders involved in the landscaping venture.

Qualifications

General Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent time management skills
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Ability to effectively liaise with clients

Key Landscaping Skills Required:

  • Garden maintenance
  • Lawn maintenance
  • Shrub and tree pruning
  • Quoting on maintenance work

Key Skills for Working with the Vulnerable Population:

  • Empathy and compassion
  • Effective communication with diverse backgrounds
  • Cultural sensitivity
  • Conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to create an inclusive and supportive work environment
  • Understanding of social challenges and barriers

Working Conditions/Compensation:

Shifts: 37.5 hours per week, days.

Compensation: $30 to $35 per hour. Commensurated by experience

Benefits: Vacation is accrued at a rate of 6%. Eligible for an employer paid comprehensive benefits plan, including health and dental coverage, after completion of probationary period.

This is a union exempt position.
